Katie Fechte assists clients in matters related to employment and labor law and employee benefits. She represents employers in federal and state courts and before federal and state administrative agencies. She defends clients against charges related to sexual harassment and discrimination, as well as age discrimination and retaliation, and also provides training on employment topics such as wage and hour compliance, and reviews and advises on employee classification and numerous other matters.
Katie's practice regularly includes defense of ERISA claims on behalf of plans sponsored by nonprofit organizations. She is an avid writer and speaker and also has extensive experience in large-scale litigation. In 2020, Katie testified to Wisconsin legislators on a new discrimination bill.
Katie first joined the firm in 2014 as a summer associate. During law school, she worked as an intern for Judge Robert G. Dowd Jr. at the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District. She also interned at the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. There, she worked on cases involving the Second Injury Fund and worker’s compensation claims and researched and wrote on legal issues related to employment discrimination, retaliation and harassment and licensure violations.
In addition to her legal experience, Katie spent several years in a management role for a St. Louis apartment complex, handling financial transactions and collections.
