January 30, 2025 – UB Greensfelder LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Scott Cruz has been reappointed to the Illinois Labor Advisory Board by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. Cruz has served as a member of the Labor Advisory Board since 2024. As a member, Cruz works jointly with representatives from management and labor to assist in advising the Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) on labor policy and enforcement of laws, reviews statutes enforced by IDOL, and provides recommendations regarding the IDOL’s administrative regulations.

In his legal practice, Cruz represents public and private sector employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including civil litigation and preventative counseling. Cruz represents employers in state and federal courts and administrative agencies involving claims brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, retaliatory discharge, breach of contract, labor arbitration and class actions. He is particularly versed in all aspects of state and federal law relating to minimum wages, overtime, exemptions, and wage payment issues. Additionally, Cruz provides management and employee training on workplace legal issues and conducts workplace investigations and legal audits.

The Labor Advisory Board provides a forum for interested parties to discuss issues affecting Illinois workers, including labor laws administered and enforced by the Department. The Board of 13 members provides advice to the Director of Labor regarding labor policy and enforcement of laws, reviews statutes enforced by the Department and provides recommendations regarding the Department's administrative regulations.
