Angela S. Kalsi

Angela Kalsi, an Intellectual Property Officer with Greensfelder, was recently interviewed in an article from Westlaw regarding the U.S. Supreme Court's apparent preference to uphold the Lanham Act provision requiring a person's consent for the use of their name in a trademark, as demonstrated in the case of Vidal v. Elster. The T-shirt maker, Steve Elster, sought federal registration for the trademark "Trump too small," which mocked Donald Trump. Kalsi noted the Supreme Court's oral arguments "suggested a willingness on the part of the justices to depart from their recent trend of striking down trademark prohibitions as violating the First Amendment."
