Ulmer Partner Frederic X. Shadley Named National Law Journal Construction Trailblazer

October 1, 2021 – Partner Frederic X. (Fritz) Shadley, Group Leader of Ulmer’s Construction Practice Group, has been recognized by The National Law Journal in its 2021 list of Real Estate and Construction Trailblazers, which celebrates legal professionals who have made significant marks on the practice, policy, and advancements in the real estate or construction law sectors.
“I’m honored to receive this recognition from The National Law Journal for my work in the construction industry,” said Shadley. “Successful attorneys understand the value of ‘getting into the details’ to best defend their clients, which is something I’ve strived to do throughout my career. It’s a privilege to help clients navigate complex construction disputes, and rewarding to help them achieve their goals.”
With more than 30 years of experience in the field, Shadley is known for his strategic approach to construction litigation. He represents clients across a wide range of disputes including those involving claims of defective construction, defective design, fraud, and negligence, as well as Fair Housing Act cases. Drawing on his electrical engineering degree, he provides clients with skilled counsel from the point of view of a construction industry insider. He partners with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and developers to create smart solutions to critical problems, and litigates construction law cases before state and federal courts across the country.
In addition to his successful practice, Shadley is a member of Ulmer’s Management Committee, which is responsible for guiding the operations and strategic direction of the firm. He also is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and belongs to The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation. In recognition of his legal accomplishments, Shadley is ranked by Chambers USA as one of Ohio’s “Leaders in Their Field” in Construction, and he has been named to The Best Lawyers in America© for Construction Law and Construction Litigation every year since 2009, among other honors.
